Sunday, August 9

Last month I went out to our local natural history museum, they have a free day once a month and it's a nice way to spend a morning. I remember coming to the museum nearly every school year I went to  public school here.

simple more otome leaning OOTD.
I had just received these shoes so I had to give them a test run. And I realized that most of my purses didn't make in the move with me and must be in some box or another at my mothers house. So my daily pink bow purse had to be a stand in until I feel up for searching for them.

This was a great exhibit! they had all the hats and accessorizes made of bird in cabinets and drawers you could open and all in a wood paneled 'room'.

A cute bird of paradise.

And my sweets obsession recently Cookies! So many cookies. These are snickerdoodles I've been working on, i almost have the recipe perfect for high altitude.

Hope your week is going lovely!

A modest start at decorating and a flowering heart tutorial

I've had a slow start to decorating our new place. Luckily we had most of the furniture we needed and now it's just adding touches that will bring it all together.

Overall it will hopefully (fingers super crossed) end up with a blue, cream, and floral theme throughout the house (with more pink in the bedroom). I want something that compliments the lolita aesthetic but isn't so over the top, except the bedroom I've been given free reign to go as OTT as I want in there!

Starting on the living room I made this heart decoration to hang along side a cork board over my sewing area.

It's really easy to make! And can be in any color scheme to fit your decor.
You will need:
Cardboard
Box cutter
Hot glue/glue gun
Ribbon
Fake flowers

I based mine out of cardboard, it's lightweight and fairly durable. Having the whole project be light is great if you can't put holes in your walls or don't want to hang it over a stud.

Start by marking out your heart. I eyeballed it but if you want to be exact printing out a heart would be simple.

All cut out and marked for the center.

And the finished form. This would be cute with letters (maybe your initials or a short word)

A selection of fake flowers. I pick mid range ones in terms of quality. Don't go for the super nice ones made of velvet unless you are dedicated to dusting because they can be a bear to clean. I found it easiest to trim most of the stem off so they are able to be positioned flat or at an angle.

Slowly applying them with hot glue. You could use an epoxy or a slow drying glue like e6000 but hot glue works fine and gives quick results.

On the back glue a loop.

And you're done! Overall this took a little under an hour, so a good project for an evening or a rainy  day.

Hopefully I will have some full room shots soon :) Also upcoming my attempts to make a billion flavors of macarons and a few new sewing projects and purchases.

Hope your having a wonderful week.I will leave you with an outfit snap of mine from Easter. I love that spring is finally making an appearance.

Mini Meetup report

I hosted my a meet up this past weekend for Valentines Day with the Lolitas of New Mexico (check out the group on facebook if your a local!). We went to brunch at Flying Star Cafe, which was refreshingly not too busy for a Sunday brunch. Sadly I don't have any shots of the group all together, it was a casual meet so not everyone wore lolita. It was great to have the chance to meet more local people especially after being in hibernation mode for so long.

I got a fruit tart and hot cocoa

My current nails set. I'm still learning so they are a little wonky but getting better.

Outfit collage.

I recently got a new pack of eyelashes and wanted to try updating my makeup look. I went for a more natural eye shape because the lashes are not as dramatic and peach waterlining. Little tip: if you are tan skinned using peach in place of white liner looks more natural.

lastly a full body shot. My kitten Maisy loves to edge in on pictures. My shoes are pink but they seem to blend in very much with my socks.
Blouse: vintage

Socks: sock dreams

In other news I just moved! As you can see it has adorable blue detailing and I hope to report back on decorating it in a cute style.

Roomwear

Super duper long time no post! Lolita and J-fashion has been on the back burner for the past few years for me but I’m really excited to start blogging again (and maybe even making more youtube videos, I have a much better camera now).

First post back? Roomwear!

I’ve been pretty ill the last few years (long story short my autonomic system hates me) and spending so much time in bed and at home has made me appreciate roomwear a million times more.

Up until recently I never really cared about roomwear, sure it was cute but I never saw the need to own much. Now I’m in love. Soft comfortable cute clothes that make you feel adorable even if you aren’t going to do more than lay in bed and marathon netflix.

Anyways here is my growing collection! Very focused on winter warmth right now. When spring comes I want to add some cute short sleeved nighties like in ‘A little princess’ and the ones the felicity and kirsten american girls dolls had (I was majorly obsessed with AG dolls when I was little).

Bloomers, pastel sweaters, and a bear ear jacket i made from the softest throw blanket ever.
Strawberry cutsew with fleecey bloomers and a sailor collar loose jsk
'Bunnies and undies' printed fleece pj pants and mint sweater
Two 'fancy' vintage nightgowns. I don't wear these very often but they are quite fun.

Strawberry and bear shorts salopettes

More vintage.

And a last little lace detail.

Very glad to be back posting :)
Hope your week is going fantastic!
